The Dance Club was started in November 1992 by Robert Gearing and his wife, Yvonne, at the Dance Studio in Badsey. As well as being committed teachers, Robert and Yvonne were regular competitors, dancing in competitions against some of the country's - and the world's - top dancers. Here they are on the floor at Blackpool in the British Open Championships.
And here they are with the North of England Open Trophy.
Within a couple of years, the studio was being used most days, filled with dancing, and the sound of music and laughter could often be heard.
Sadly, Yvonne died from cancer in 2015 and since then Robert has run the dance studio on his own. Although changes have been carried out, Yvonne is still remembered and has her place in the spirit of the dance studio that she helped create.
There have been some big changes in the look of the studio in the decades since the Dance Club began, including a Maple wood dance floor being laid in the late 1990’s and a major redecoration undertaken over the lockdown period.
